Rocky Mountains

7-29-2013 8:30am
On Wednesday, July 17 we drove from Fountain Colorado to Estes Park, Colorado which is in the Rocky Mountains National Park. The traffic through Boulder was terrible and there was a lot of road construction but the drive up the mountains was very nice. The road in the mountains has a lot of curves but the climbs were not to steep. The elevation is 7100 feet.

On Thursday we took a bus tour to the top of the mountain to the visitors center which is at 11796 feet. The views were breath taking. We saw Elk along side the road. Notice the logs on the roof of the visitors center to protect it from the heavy snows. There was still snow on the mountains. We came back down the mountain to have a great lunch at Craig's Lodge in Estes Park. We had some rain in the afternoon but it didn't stop us from going into town to shop. A volunteer at the visitors center told us about a leather store she worked at where everything was under $30. Of course we had to visit the store where her mother waited on us. Judy got two purses and I got another hat.

These pictures will show the great views and the Elk. See if you can find the picture of the Bobcat.

  1. Great pictures, looks beautiful up there. You almost got me with the trick Bobcat question but I finally saw it in #67, ha ha.

Very impressive about your fellow traveler that has done all the Ironman distance triathlons. I'm hoping to finish just one!
