Gettysburg, PA

6-24-2012
We left Fredericksburg Friday and drove up to Gettysburg. The traffic on the beltway around DC wasn't too bad. We rode Segways for 3 hours for a tour of the battlefields on Saturday. It was a great tour. Saturday night we went on a ghost hunting expedition to a vacant house outside of town. People have tried to restore the house into a bed and breakfast on two occasions but both times spirits drove the workers away. We had all kinds of ghost hunting equipment with the group. We didn't see anything but we were with two girls who had a device that translated noises into words. they said if you got the same word twice it was a real spirit. we got three or four words at least twice and a couple three or four times. We got certificates certifying that we had taken part in a paranormal investigation with the Gettysburg Paranormal Association.

The Battle of Gettysburg lasted from July 1 to July 3, 1864. There was a lot of hand to hand combat and a large number of casualties. The Union still had control of Gettysburg at the end of the battle. We toured a few gift shops and drove around looking at civil war buildings. All buildings that were here during the war have a plague on them that is in one of the pictures.

We got an email from my sister on Saturday evening saying they were on their way from Amherst, Ohio to Fredericksburg, Va. to help my niece move to Richmond, VA. and needed a place to stay. We figured out they were about 3 1/2 hours away and we would be back from the ghost hunting about the same time. Things worked out and they got to our camp at the same time we did. They are the first guests to use our foldout bed with the air mattress. They said it was very comfortable. We had coffee and waffles this morning and they left for Fredericksburg. It was hard to believe that our paths crossed like they did,

Tomorrow we are going to Lancaster, Pa for a day.
