Well we have covered a lot of ground since the last post. We haven't had good internet for the last week so posts would have been difficult. We left the Niagara Falls RV Park on August 2 and drove down to a Campground near Erie, PA. While there we visited Presque Isle and Erie, PA.
If you aren't up on the history of the war of 1812 you probably aren't familiar with Presque Isle. It is a peninsula that guards the harbor in Erie. During the war of 1812 Oliver Perry convinced the government to build war ships in Erie. Oliver Hazard Perry sailed from Erie to Put-In-Bay where he defeated the British in the Battle Of Lake Erie. This was an important victory in the War of 1812. We visited the Maritime Museum in Erie where they have a model of part of the Lawrence which was a ship that was nearly destroyed in the battle. They built cannons like the ones used at that time and fired them at the model to duplicate the damage during the battle.
From Erie we moved south into Ohio and stayed at a campground in Jefferson, Ohio from the 4th until the 6th. We visited 12 covered bridges on the 4th. The next day we visited the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and an old friend, Robin, who lived across the street in Bay Village. We moved to a campground in New London, Ohio which is south of Oberlin on the 6th.
The first day we washed the RV and the car and found a grocery in Wellington. My sister Jenifer and her husband, Martin came down for a cookout. the next day we visited Oberlin, Ohio which has a lot of historic houses and a old city hall with Greek architecture. We then drove up to Vermilion which is a community right on Lake Erie. From there we drove to Amherst to see my sister again. Amherst was known as the sandstone capital of the world for a long time because of the multi-colored sandstone that was quarried there. We visited the sandstone village there and then had dinner in a local pub in downtown Amherst.
Thursday we drove to Ypsilanti, MI and my sister and her husband followed us there. We visited Greenfield Village on Friday and the Ford Museum today. The Village contains many historic buildings that Henry Ford had moved to the Village and some that are replicates. The Museum contains too many historical things to cover here. We had campfire on Thursday night with drinks and on Friday night we had a campfire with S'mores. They left for home tonight and we leave for Indiana tomorrow.
I'll post pictures as soon as I get time.

Glad you are back on the grid, I was beginning to worry about you. Although if we had to file a missing RV report, it would be an easy thing to look for. You're seeing so many historical sites, very interesting? Have a good trip to Indiana.
