Friday they came and prepped the addition for concrete pouring. Just missed the first truck actually coming in but caught the end of it. The "concrete" guys were amazing. They had a foreman that really knew his stuff. They finished smoothing out the dirt, laid the plastic sheeting, cut and laid the re-bar and connected the pieces together with wire ties. They then put in the little "triangles" to hold the re-bar in place for the concrete to be poured in.
The entire process was interesting to watch. We did not get to see the final load being poured or the fact that it started to rain. We had to meet with the door man to select all the doors for the renovation. Apparently the concrete guys had to erect a "tent" to keep the rain off the concrete while it cured.
We did get to select the kind of doors we will have for the entry ways and the inside doors. The front door is made of fiberglass, with etched glass oval for the top 3/4 of the door. It will be made to look like a wood door like a barn door which will match the new garage doors. The "back" door will be French doors also made of fiberglass with mini blinds built between the pieces of glass. The inside doors will all be the same style of door with arched panel at the top and two raised panels at the bottom.
Today they are supposed to come and finish leveling the barn area and build forms for a retaining wall on the one side. Hopefully they will be laying concrete there tomorrow.
will keep you posted.
