Williamsburg, Virginia

6-18-2012
We arrived in Williamsburg early Friday afternoon. We did a tour on Friday night called Spooks and Legends. There are many haunted places in Williamsburg. We visited about 8 of them on the tour. Didn't see or hear any ghosts but it was a little early. Our guide suggested we could come back later on and would probably hear or see some. We were tired of walking and it was 10PM when we finished so we didn't go back. There are buildings that are occupied that people today report strange things happening. Saturday we toured parts of historic Williamsburg and attended a session of the County court. We heard three cases from  the 1750's. We attended a performance at the Raleigh Theater where they had 3 acts that would have been typical of the 1750's.  We attended a tour the Capital Building where the Declaration of Rights was written which was a foundation for the Declaration of Independence. We visited the jail where people accused of capital crimes were held.

We did a lot of walking. In fact, we have done a lot of walking in the 5 cities we have visited since we left home. The dogs are having fun visiting new campgrounds and have been very well behaved. I mentioned in an earlier post that we have a problem with one of the TV's. We talked to the Newmar customer service department last Monday. We got a call on Friday that a new TV is waiting for us at an RV Dealer in Richmond. We have an appointment there tomorrow to get the new TV installed.

Yesterday we did a vitals tour. There was just the two of us and our guide. We visited 8 places where we tasted things from barbecued ribs to a Hot Holly sandwich. We had cheeses, candies, ham, yogurt, and a very good baked macaroni and cheese. by the time we were done we were too full to eat any dinner. We also toured the William and Mary ancient campus. Our guide graduated from William and Mary, so he had a lot of information to share including a few ghost stories.

Today we are going back to finish visiting Williamsburg and tomorrow we are going back to Richmond.
Heard from a lot of family yesterday for Fathers Day, which was nice.
