Last day in Boston

7-16-2012

Yesterday we drove into Boston to take a hop on hop off bus tour. The traffic was not bad since it was Sunday. We found a parking garage a short block from the start of the tour. The trolley makes 9 stops around the City. You can get on or off at any of them. We got off at the second stop and walked to see Paul Revere's house, part of the Freedom Trail, the Old North Church  and Copp's Hill Burial Ground. These are all located in the Old North End.

We caught the trolley at stop 3 and rode to stop 4 in Charlestown. We saw the USS Constitution, the Monument at Bunker Hill (from a distance) and a destroyer. We visited the USS Constitution Museum. We caught the trolley again and rode to a stop by Boston Commons. We walked through part of the park and over to Beacon Street to see the tavern from Cheers. We walked through parts of Beacon Hill and over to the State House which has a gold dome.

We got back on the trolley and rode back to the first stop. Along the way we went past more historical places. From there we walked over to Quincy Market which is a very large area filled with many restaurants and shops of every type. We stopped at Dick's Last Resort so I could buy a shirt. By the time we finishes at Quincy Market it was late afternoon and we were ready to drive the 38 miles back to camp. Today we just relaxed, cleaned up, did laundry and checked all the things on the RV. Tomorrow we are heading for a campground just south of Portland, Maine.
