Update of our travels

7-4-2012

Friday, 6/29/2012, we started the day with a visit to Valley Forge, where the Revolutionary forces spent a very miserable winter. The scenery is beautiful and the history quite interesting. We then fought the traffic back to downtown Philadelphia for a food tasting tour. We saw more historical buildings and had great food.     The first stop was a small family owned pizza place where we had tomato pie. This is a very light pizza crust with a tomato sauce. It was very good. We also had truffles, chocolate covered pretzels, Philadelphia pretzels and a Philly cheese steak with cheese covered fries. The Philadelphia pretzels are different than the pretzels we are use to and much better. They claim the difference in the pretzels and the difference in the bun for the Philly cheese steak is due to  the water. The bun is very light. We toured City Hall which is a beautiful historic building. We again fought terrible traffic getting back to the RV.

Saturday we moved the RV up to Judy's brothers house for a two day family reunion. We had lots of food and beverages. You could drink and then walk 25 feet home for a nap. We got to see all the relatives from Judy's side. We hadn't seen this group since last year. There was about 35 immediate family members there.

Monday morning we left for an over night stop in Endicott, New York. the trip took us into the mountains, the scenery was beautiful. The RV does great on the hills.

Tuesday morning we drove up to the KOA in Watkins Glen,New York. We had a little trouble with the GPS directions because it wanted to take us on the shortest route which was on narrow two lane roads. We also knew there was a low bridge we had to avoid. After two u turns and some help from a local resident we were on the route we wanted to be on.

Well I have to go for now, don't know for sure about the next couple of days, we will either stay here or take the RV into the Watkins Glen race track.

I will add more photos later.
