Chattanogoo

9-22-2012

We had a good time in Chattanooga. We were in a nice camp ground. Talked to a lot of nice people. The sights we went to see were great. We visited Ruby Falls, Which is in a cave under Look Out Mountain. The cave originally had an entrance near the bottom of  Look Out Mountain but the entrance was sealed off i 1905 when the RR built a tunnel through the mountain. In 1928 Leo Lambert drilled an elevator shaft and again found the cave. The formations inside the cave are pretty and the 135 foot falls at the end of the trail is beautiful. You can see the falls in the pictures.

We rode the incline cable car up the side of Look Out Mountain. The climb is a mile long at a seventy degree angle. The views from the top of Look Out Mountain were breath taking. They said you can see 7 states from there. We visited the Fort on top of the mountain. The history of the Civil War in the area was interesting.

The next day we visited Rock City which is located near the top of Look Out Mountain. This attraction consists of trails through rock formations created by nature. The size of many of the rocks is amazing as they are huge. They have added many displays through out the trails tht were done for the original owners daughter.

We also visited the National Towing Museum which contained anumber of antique tow trucks. The first tow truck was built by the Holmes Co. in Chattanooga.

We left Friday for Birmingham, Alabama.
