10-14-2012 continued

A small band of Confederates made up of young men, old men and recuperating soldiers defeated the Union army at this site to prevent them from getting to Tallahassee.

Historic Quincy

As we said in the blog there are many springs in Florida. These pictures show on clear the water is. This spring is named after Ruben Charles who lived nearby in the early 1800's. The last picture isone of the hugh spiders in the woods. Note the sign referencing Bellamy Road. I'll give you more information about this roar in a future blog post.

Charles Spring

Ruben Charles was killed by Indians in 1815. His wife was shot on her front porch in 1835. This is a cemetery just down the road from the spring.
