House 3/5/2013

3-5-2013

House is starting its long renovations.  The plumbers have replaced the water line from the street to the house.   They have tunneled under the house for the new sewer system (all the pipes were bad).  It was interesting watching these guys go under the house and dig a tunnel to lay the new lines. They had to dig two tunnels.  One for the kitchen and laundry room and one for the bathrooms and HVAC.  They finished the tunnels and filled them in yesterday.

The electricians started yesterday and have completed the wiring in the kitchen (including overhead can lights, under the cabinet lights, and the wiring for appliances, outlets and switches). The wiring in the house had to be completely redone as well.

The fence is now all fabricated and primed.  The painting should start today or tomorrow.

Hopefully the garage group will start grading the drive and building pad today and the house addition will be formed out.  Supposedly the concrete for the house addition will be here on Friday.  Also today they should be bringing in truck loads of dirt to even out the yard for the drive and RV barn site.

Yesterday we got to watch the electric company put in a new pole and reconnect the lines to the pole and add the transformer.  It was quite amazing how they used the big trucks and equipment to set the pole and actually turn it to get it just right.

If all goes well, they will start to build the barn on Monday.  We will keep you all informed.

We did take some time off to go boot shopping.  Could not pass up buying some new ones.  We also went to an Irish Festival in Dallas on Sunday.  It was a lot of fun and everyone seemed to bring their dogs.  There were all shapes and sizes and some of them were even "painted" green.  There were all kinds of food and food prep items as well as many crafts and things to buy.  Judy bought a new t-shirt.

Until next time.
