Back on the road again

Well we finally got back on the road again. After getting our camera fixed so we could see the jeep behind us we left Burleson on the 23rd of January and drove to Galveston Island State park. The park is 10 miles outside of town, right on the Gulf. We had a few nice days but it was generally windy and cold. We visited the Moody Gardens where the have a rain forest building and an aquarium building.

We visited a nice train museum and an old mansion. The old downtown is nice. There are indications around town from the damage done by hurricane Ike which hit the island in 2000. There was a lot of water in many parts of town.

Friday we drove into Houston to visit The Museum of Natural science. It was a very nice museum with many displays. There were dinosaurs, Egyptian artifacts, mummies, gems and many other things. We spent 3 hours there. We then drove up to the woodlands and visited with Darla and Nate Vander Pol.. Went out to dinner with them to an Irish Pub. the shepherds pie was very good.

Saturday, February 1, we drove 386 miles down to south Padre Island. The island is full of people here for the winter. We are staying at the KOA, we can see the bay and the long Memorial Bridge that you take to get to the island. The bad news is we had one nice day.since then it has been cold and windy.

Will post again when we can get out and do some things. Looking forward to driving on the beach.
