Ballon Festival

We left Winslow on 10-1-2014 and drove to Sky City Casino where we gambled a little and ate at the buffet. the next day we drove to Albuquerque where we met up with 4 other RVs from our trip. We all went into the balloon  fiesta together and parked side by side.The balloon fiesta was really great. Early every morning, around 630 AM five or six balloons would launch to check the weather. This was called the dawn patrol. It was usually still dark when they launched as you can see in some of the pictures.

We rode the tram to the top of the mountain. It is the longest tram in the country. The views from the top of the mountain were really great. On the next day we visited Santa Fe, NM. The old parts of the town were really interesting. We visited the mission which has the mysterious circular which has no visible means of support.

We also visited the Indian village at Sky City.The village was first established in 500 A.D. The village was partial destroyed by the Spanish but the Indians returned and rebuilt it. They live there with no electricity and no running water. They have to haul their water up to the top of the mesa.

We spent the rest of the time watching balloons. They had a number of special shape balloons which you can see in the pictures.We did have lunch twice at Jean Simmons (Kiss)new restaurant "Rock and Brews.

I will post the balloon pictures now but the rest of the pictures need to be fixed first..
